First off, you will need a 5/16th wrench, also you might want to consider changing the timming belt while your at it. You will save money down the line.

The above answers are correct, hot water will do it. However, I would not use a blade or any sharp object on it. Remember, by taking your time to soak it (which is the key), you've made the rubber seal very soft and pliable. You risk nicking & damaging it in a way you may not even notice at first. This will shorten your seals lifespan, and then you'll end up having to find a replacement part.

I have a KitchenAid blender, so it's good quality. I won't need to puree any meats, so veggies and fruits only. I do want them to be pretty smooth though. Thanks so much!
