Does anyone know of an equivalent blender for vitamix?
Jun 23, 2007 by SaraMlg | Posted in Other - Food & Drink
I've just finished reading Green for Life and they don't sell vitamix blenders in the uk. I need an equivalent blender to make my green smoothies.
Cuisnart would be your best bet.

Feb 25, 2008 by Kim J | Posted in Other - Food & Drink
Yes! The Vitamix is Awesome! I've had 1 for the last 6 years. Bought it at Costco for $370. Ouch. A lot of $ but worth the investment.

By using a blender such as Vitamix to eat more fruit and veges has it helped you lose weight?
Oct 15, 2008 by anon_guy_anon | Posted in Vegetarian & Vegan
I'm getting one soon. I wonder if I had a fruit/vege drink for breakfast instead of milk and cereal if I would lose weight. And just interested if anyone used it to change their diet like I plan to and if it helped them lose weight.
It may, but you need a well-balanced breakfast. If you're going to make a healthy fruit/vegetable drink every day, make sure to add that milk that would normally be on your cereal. It's a source of protein, calcium, etc... You should always try to fit some whole grains into your meal plan, however. I used to just drop some frozen fruit in the blender with water because I don't like milk, and then I realized that my entire supposedly healthy breakfast was just carbohydrates. It may be low-calorie and full of nutritional benefits, but it lacks protein which helps build lean muscle mass, which in turn helps metabolize fat better. What I would suggest that you do is make a SMALL fruit/vegetable drink made with low-fat milk and then make oatmeal (which is rich in fiber, protein, vitamin E, zinc and more; an excellent whole grain) with milk and whatever toppings you enjoy on oatmeal. Oatmeal is very filling and good for you, so I'm sorry if you don't like it. =\ Instead of oatmeal you could try to find a healthy cereal that you like that has whole grains and fiber.
Remember that breakfast is what gives you that kick start in the morning. Whatever calories you take in in the morning, given that it's a reasonable amount, will most likely be burned off (unless you just sit around all day doing nothing =|). It's good that you're trying to lose weight and eat healthily, but if it's not well-balanced then you won't be losing weight the smart way and could be depriving your body of essential calories/nutrients, and if you're not keen on exercise than you could lose muscle mass.
Good luck! =)
