Ice freezer never stopped running. This is the first time this has ever happened. I have made ice cream for 30 years.
For this time stick the bucket into your freezer.
maybe you did not have enough salt in the outer part.

In a home ice cream freezer we lower the freezing point of the water bath surrounding the ice cream can by dissolving NaCL in water to make a brine solution. A 15% brine solution is obseved to freeze at -10.888C.What is the van"t Hoff factor,i, for this solution
The equation for freezing point depression is,
∆T = Kf m i
where
∆T = 10.888 K (freezing point depression of H2O)
Kf = 1.858 K-kg/mol (cryoscopic constant for water)
m = molality of brine (NaCl)
i = van't Hoff factor
To find molality:
1 kg of 15% brine solution contains 850 g water and 150 g NaCl. The MW of NaCl is 58.6 g/mole, and 150/58.6 = 2.56 moles. The molality of the solution = 2.56moles/0.850 kg water = 3.01 mol/kg.
Solving for i gives 1.96

Is the Kitchenaid Ice Cream Freezer attachment any good? Is the mixer strong enough?

I want to buy an ice cream maker/freezer. I have a KitchenAid mixer, but I wonder if the motor won't get warm or worn out on the long freezing cycle? Anyone have any experience with this?
I just bought this attachment 6months ago and it is great!! I have made ice cream, sorbet and even margarita ice (similar to gelato) my machine is put through the paces as I make pasta, grind meat and even use it to make dough. The Kitchenaid is the best home mixer and my first lasted 20years - this is my second and i am sure it will last just as long. Good Luck!

Just wondering, because ice is building up on the bottom of my top shelves in my ice cream freezer.
I work in the frozen food department of a grocery store.
I believe it is moisture that floats to the top, collects and freezes. When people open the freezer doors and the cold air in the freezer meets the warmer air on the other side. You get moisture in a teeny tiny droplet form that rises.
Do you ever notice when you open and close the doors you see mist in and out swirling around? It floats to the top freezes, and everytime someone opens the door, this process repeats. And then the thin film of ice at the top just keeps collecting and building up til you have a layer.
You can get rid of it with warm water and a wash cloth.

Why can't you just put ice cream mixture in freezer?

why do you have to have an ice cream freezer, why doesn't just puting the mixture in refrig's freezer work just as well
You can put icecram mixture in freezer if you freeze for about 20 minutes and then remove and whip it up then returrn to freezer.Don't use the cheap mixes, buy the one where you must use canned milk.

The most shortened book emphasizing on the importance of quality I have read so far. The Ice Cream Maker as the name suggests is the Edda about the Plant manager Pete of an ice cream manufacturer named Dairy Cream. The book starts with a necessary situation where by the ice creams are not selling in the market as expected inspite of being good as per the contemplative of management. The owner gives an ultimatum of shape up or shift out. Pete finds a mentor in Mike who had been his neighbour for a hunger time and works in firm called Natural Foods which happens to be developing customer of Dairy Cream as well. A crisp and to the point narrative elaborating on the various facets of je sais quoi is wonderfully captured by the author Subir Chowdhary. The book has a site to its name as well. One can find some tools of prominence like Kano's model clearly elaborated as part of the solution for the troubled unshakeable Dairy Cream.
