How do you clean a fry daddy with nonstick surface when you can't use SOS pads?

We have a fry daddy that has a lid that closes and the basket that lowers. The top lid can be taken off, the non-stick "bowl" can come out, as can the basket. They are all coated with oil, some yellow and sticky and some black. Very dirty. Works great but desperately needs cleaned and it will not come off with soaking.

I can't use anything abrasive on it since it's got a nonstick surface. And the basket has all those tiny holes in it so it's impossible to get anything inside it. I have tried sticking the parts that allowed to go through the dishwasher but it still is discusting. Any thoughts?

Do not use oven cleaner it could strip off your surfaces,go to the hardware and grocery store and look for degreaser it is made to clean deep fryers .There is one made by clr that sells for 7 dollars at home depot

At what tempature do i set my Presto Deep Fryer to,,,in order to make french fries etc ?

It is rather old but still works just fine. We only use it about once a month but since my father uses it most, I, mistakenly, assumed that he cleaned the exterior after using.

It is covered in a sticky, viscous yellow goo that I can only assume is condensed or congealed oil.

I can’t submerge the whole thing in water but sponges, scrubbers, even copper scrubbers can’t get the hardened goo off…

Can you recommend a way to clean this thing that won’t end up ruining the heating element?

I know they are rather cheep but I don’t want to buy a new one with the old one still working… Just really really dirty…

The Cord comes off and is held in place with a magnet so if it were to fall or something, the power cord comes off and it shuts down… So it isn’t the cord that I’m worried about but the internal electrical components themselves.

i had the same thing happen to mine! i sprayed some oven cleaner on it...waited a few minutes...then used an s.o.s. pad to get the stuck on goo off...

What would you prefer to use if your trying to save up on your bills?

Honestly, I'm not sure that this one would matter. Just try and be frugal overall & it will all be good.
