Can I use a stainless steel pasta basket in my deep fryer?

I have a small Rival fryer and all the baskets I've found are too big to fit inside. There are some smaller pasta baskets available, but I don't know if it's safe to use a pasta basket in the fryer.
I wouldn't - the pasta baskets tend to have less holes & are spaced further apart than a fry basket. You may wind up with oil overflowing out of your fryer.

I sliced the potatoes now and how long do I need to leave the chips in the fryer please. I lost the instructions for the "Rival" deep fryer.
first make sure that your potatoes are dry, use a kitchen towel or papertowel to dry them. to much water will spoil the fat and it will start foaming much earlier and you have to repalce it because it will boil over your fryer and you will have a mess.
which temperature? where i live we work with centrigrade, so it is 160 to 180C, that is if your deepfryer can heat up to that temperature. otherwise turn it on to max, but never leave the fryer unattended. slowly put the chips into the hot oil, also stir and turn them once in a while so they get brown and crispy.
want them spicy? add a few drops of tabasco before yo ufry. same with garlic and other flavors. if you put them in after the chips have been fried, they will become soggy. of course it will be rather a new experience than, after frying garlic chips you will do doughnuts, you will ahve to change the oil of course.

I have a hand-me down Rival Deep Fryer, with varying temperatures. Unfortunately, my mother didn't give me the book, and I have no idea what temperature (or for how long) I should cook them for.
375 id just a tad to hot. Go with 360 and cook for about 10 to 15 minutes for 6 wing pieces. Your Rival fryer needs time to recover , or get back up to temperature after adding food to the oil.

Some people make the mistake of putting the food into the fryer basket and then lowering the basket into the hot oil. That is how batter ends up sticking to the basket.
Be sure to put the basket into the oil and leave it there as the oil heats. Carefully add the food to the basket already in the hot oil. When the food is done, you can lift the basket out to drain the food.

We have one of the Rival deep fryers - just a household size with the lid. Do you think you could use it for boiling water instead of frying greasy foods?
For the brilliant person who thought I was an idiot...there is no access to a stove.
There is no oil in this and never has been. So that is not a safety issue, and there is a temperature control on the fryer.
Sure you can.... I actually worked in a restaurant that used counter top fryers to rapidly heat up pasta for dishes. Not very economical way of using them, but it can be done.
