Built In Gas Grill - 362 items found

I am looking for a gas grill for my terrace. Which brand (and/or model) do you recommend and why?

I would like to integrate it to a concrete bar I will soon start building. As for specific specs, I would like for it to have at least one side burner and have access to the gas container through the front.
You have to be careful when integrating a gas grill such as heat conduction, dispersion, and combustion air. I am a contractor and have integrated grills for about a dozen customers. If you're thinking about dismantling a free standing grill, I wouldn't do it, too many safety concerns. If you just leave an open area for a free standing grill it is fine but something to consider is longevity. Gas grill aren't built to last forever and when it comes time for replacement you may not find one with the same dimensions. If you want a professional look and longevity, consider buying a built in gas grill. There are many different mfgrs. to choose from. Three of my customers had me install a Fire Magic gas grill system and they are extremely pleased. These systems are very customizable and come with detailed intructions.

A personal question for builders...?
Sep 09, 2008 by Clare D | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
Hi there!
I was wondering if I could have some advice.
I am currently having my house renovated - the builders have only started 2 weeks ago and are doing a great job.
We live in the middle of no-where 10 miles from a food shop.
So for the last 2 weeks every day I have made them all bacon sarnies!
They seem really happy (and I hope they are - treat people as you would want to be treated)
Would you be happy being brought a bacon sarnie on site?
What other things would you enjoy to eat on site? bearing in mind I am limited to a george foreman grill , microwave and camping gas stove.
also as builders when you finish at the end of the day do you tell the home owner your going or do you just leave?
Happy building everyone...
I've been building houses for 10 years now so I hope I can help you out. As a builder, we LOVE when homeowners bring us treats. You certainly don't have to do it, so I really appreciate it when you do. It doesn't even have to be anything big. Some sarnies one day, soda, water... it's all greatly appreciated.
As to your other question, we will typically just pack up and leave at the end of the day. We don't want to intrude into your life anymore than we already are, so we try to leave as quietly as possible. If I've gotten to know a homeowner especially well then I make it a point to let them know when I leave. Just so they know that random men aren't walking around their property anymore.

Charcoal grill vs. gas grill in terms of food flavor.?
Aug 22, 2008 by BinkyTheWonderDog | Posted in Other - Food & Drink
I love the taste of meat cooked on an outdoor grill. I've always used a charcoal grill and I thought it was the charcoal that imparts the flavor. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to grilling. I like the ritual of actually building the fire. My brother uses a gas grill and says it makes no difference -- that the smoke from the fat that hits the flames is what makes barbequed meat taste good. If that's the case I may get a gas grill. Anyone with experience with both types of grills? Are the results the same?
I think my charcoal grilling tastes better. I usually throw in some mesquite chips with it too. I use my gas grill for corn on the cobb -(in the shucks) - or hot dogs on the side, while the better meats get put on the charcoal grill. Sometimes, if there are no guests, and I need to cook a little something quick, then I use the gas. But for showing off, I use charcoal definitely. I think your brother is right to a degree in that the fat-dripping smoke from gas grills make them better than pan-fried with no flame. But with charcoal you get fat-dripping smoke and wood smoke, too. There are other woods you can try, too. My friend does very well in rib competitions, and he uses apple wood.

Cleaning a gas grill? Soot builds up on the food and something smells a bit like plastic?
Aug 06, 2008 by Thinking | Posted in Other - Food & Drink
I have a gas oven that heats my kitchen to 5 billion degrees when I use it in this hot summer weather :( ...I need to fix this grill!
The rocks in the grill are a bit old and probably need to be replaced, but this all started when I replaced the 'guts' to the grill because they were rusted and falling apart.
The first time I noticed it, soot (or something) built up on my chicken breast. I could take the spatula and scrap most of it off... it was slimey. Something smelled like plastic, but I thought maybe it was the new 'guts' breaking in or something. I ate the chicken... yeah I know, I shouldn't have.
The next time I used it, the plastic smell wasn't as bad, but the soot was still there. I cooked a pork loin (wrapped in foil). The loin was fine, but when I put the potatoes on, the soot was back. I tried leaving the lid open, but the potatoes wouldn't get done in the middle. I threw them out and ate the loin.
My boyfriend said something about too much gas and not enough oxygen causing the smell and soot. He said maybe a vent was blocked (he put the new guts in). What about this?
Maybe the grill is just really dirty? How to clean it?
Tips? Suggestions?
Anything appreciated; I want my grill back :(
You are getting too much air.
Is it LP or Natural gas you are using? Are the new parts for LP or Natural gas? The LP burners have large orifices than Natural Gas.
Also, before the burner is a collar type sleeve that goes over the gas pipe going to the burner. It will have 1 or 2 holes on it. When the fire is on medium turn this collar to adjust the air to gas ratio. The flame will change color and size. Try for a nice blue flame with small yellow tips. Not a big orange flame.
Replace the lava rock yearly and use more than you think you need.
Good luck.
