My new Char-Broil Gas grill will not reach over 250 degrees. I'm pretty sure we have it on high.?

Does any one have any suggestions on what the problem could be?
I should have mentioned this right away, but the grill is hooked up to natural gas, so there is no tank.
I bought a genesis silver c model(weber) and had this same problem..I called thier tech support and they told me that the newer bottles have the safety check vavlve in them and are made to decrease in pressure if a sudden burst of propane shot through them too fast..She instructed me to go out cut the tank off at the knob on the bottle wait 10 minutes..then go back out and turn the knob on the bottle on but very slowly..and the internal valve wouldn't shut it down..hey serious it worked..I'm sure your grill isn't but a few steps from you..go try ..tell me if it worked...

What are your cleaning tips for BBQ gas grills?

I just bought a Char-Broil and cooked grilled chicken with a soy-based marinade. I spent 30 minutes cleaning the grill. Hopefully, there's an easier way to do this.
I have porcelain grates and I already know the basics -- copper brush while still warm -- but do you have any other tips or products you can recommend?
I got a Shark steam cleaner (it looks like a little canister vac) and it works wonders on my stainless gas grill! Yeah, you still have to do some scrubbing but it's not near the chore! I steam the heck out of a section, take the grill brush to it and keep up the cycle until it's where I want it. You probably could take the grates in and run through the dishwasher when you get most of the goo off. Spraying the grill with a no stick veggie oil spray or wiping with oil before cooking does help with the clean up too!
I've tried (I swear) every BBQ grill cleaner on the market and none worked and most stunk to high heaven. The steamer does work and no toxic fumes. And you will certainly find other uses for it! I got the floor attachment with mine and use it to do all my tile/linoleum floors, clean woodwork/cabinets, countertops, windows/mirrors, bathroom fixtures.

just got from a friend an old char broil gas grill 9000 series pretty bad shape dont know where to start
If it doesn't burn right take it apart and clean it. I had to turn mine upside down and take the two clips off and take the burner out. I ran water through it and cleaned all the rust out of the pipe and now it runs like new. It was burning with a yellow flame. It should burn with mostly blue with just a little yellow.

I have a Char-broil gas grill. I have a new tank of gas and it won't light. No gas is coming out the burners.

valve is open it is turned on... had a grill for years first time having this problem. The gas is not gettting from the tank to the burners.
Heavy gas grill fell over during a storm,visually it looks ok but flame shoots out around main knob.?

I purchased a new 4 burner commercial Char-broil grill last summer.Much to my shock and dismay,it toppled over last week during a big rain storm.I couldn't believe it..this thing weighs a ton but a strong gust of wind must have hit it just the"right" way.
Anyway,visually it seems to be fine no signs of broken parts and everythings still in perfect alignment.I press the ignitor buton,see it spark then a flame shoots from behind the knob not the main burner.Then I attempt to light it wit a match and it lit slightly after a bit of time but I shut it off because of a strong propane smell.
I don't want to mess around with it too much till I get more info about what might be wrong.
Anyone shed some light on this...thanks in advance.
The knob is attached to the gas valve. Coming out of the gas valve, there is a nozzle that shoots the gas through a kind of venturi (like a carburetor) into the burner. This causes the gas to pick up oxygen on the way to the burner.
If the nozzle on the gas valve and the inlet on the burner have become misaligned from the fall, the gas will just shoot out of the nozzle around the gas valve and not get to the burner.
Check the alignment of these parts. There should be a gap of about 1/2 inch or so between them (the nozzle and the burner inlet). Sometimes there's a spacer of some kind between them (a metal bracket that doesn't go all the way around the connection). This may have gotten bent, causing the gas to squirt out the side of the spacer instead of going to the burner.
