charcoal grill?

I want to learn how to use a charcoal grill..how do i get started? what do i need? we have one but I've never used it before,my husband has but not often, once in a blue moon..lol, but he don't know how to grill very much so that's why i don't bother asking him. we just moved, we have a beautiful backyard and i would love to grill something and eat outside.

I prefer to use brand name charcoal like "Kingsford".
I don't like the match lite kinds as it seems to leave your food tasting like lighter fluid.
I prefer Kingsford Mesquite charcoal and their regular as well.
My grill is a Weber Charcoal Grill, 22" diameter, and I love it.
It has charcoal briquet holders that I use to hold my charcoal in a group for a more direct heat source, or by spacing them out an indirect heat source.
I usually keep them near each other for grilling burgers or chicken for example. You can wrap potatoes with foil and bake them on the grill surface too. I like to put some fresh asparagus and onion with butter in foil and let it cook till tender and eat with whatever meat that is grilled.
I prefer ground chuck hamburger for making grilled hamburgers as it makes plenty of smoke which flavors the burgers and you still have a meat patty left after grilling.
Too fat of hamburger just burns away into smoke and too lean wants to stick to the grill surface a little more and comes out a lot less juicy of a burger.
Boneless skinless chicken breast is really good grilled. Grill it till it gets a light caramel color on the surface and the meat is white throughout.
I like using Kosher Salt for grilling as it seems to work well on grilling meats and helps to seal in the juices in the meats you cook.
To get started, just simply fill your charcoal briquet holders (if you have any) put on some lighter fluid, and lite with matches and when the charcoal begins to glow with an orange heat/fire you are ready to begin grilling. This usually is takes 15-20 minutes or so......

How do you do a charcoal grill?

ok, this may sound like a really stupid question, but I have never set up a charcoal grill. We're planning a barbeque at a park tomorrow and I'll be cooking on the grills there. What are the steps to set up a charcoal grill?

Pile up your charcoal into a tight heap in teh center of the bottom of the grill (lift grill itself off, or see if you can lean it up and back out of the way). Light w/ lighter fluid, if needed. Let soak recommended time, then light. Let burn recommended time (read on bag). When whitish, spread coals out evenly. Or, if you want them hotter in one sectin, spread them thicker on one side, thinner on another. Replace grill. Let it get good and hot, then scrub w/ grill brush or soap-free brillo pads held by tongs. Oil grill w/ a rag dipped in oil held by tongs. Then slap your meat on there and enjoy your cookout!

How do I make a charcoal Grill into a Gas Grill?

I have a built in charcoal grill at my house, but would prefer gas because I dont grill a large qty and want to just turn on and off as needed. Calling places have suggested purchasing an insert, but that is very expensive. I have to imagine you can buy "replacement" parts for a gas grill and mount them in the charcoal grill insert and hook up to the gas (which is like 30 feet away)
Any suggestions on how to get started?

If this is a masonry grill, you may be able to buy parts from a gas stove to use.
you'll need to drill 1 hole for the gas feed,& 2 for mounting brackets. Depending on which gas-jets you get.
You will also need to mount a catch plate to protect the gas -jets( you don't want to have to clean them all the time)
GOOD LUCK!

How can I make a homemade charcoal grill?

I need a grill and I only have charcoal.
I need a grill in 4 hours for a cookout on the beach using only household items
Can anyone help me figure out a way to make a grill without purchasing one? Please?

when you're on nature, take what nature is offering you. On the beach you can find rocks which could form a grill, also you can find dry wood which was washed on shore by water to use it for fire.
We always do grill this way with friend when going camping to seashore.
If you're sure that there is no way to find rocks on the beach, you can use 2 or 4 building bricks check pictures:

BTW Not sure why but BBQ tastes much better when done like this :)

Where can I find a good charcoal grill and smoker trailer?

I am getting my fiance a charcoal grill/smoker trailer for his wedding present. It needs to be a charcoal grill, he doesn't use propane, with a smoker.

A charcoal barbeque grill is a connoisseur?s delight

There is no selfsame to a charcoal barbeque grill. It may take time to cook or it may leave a mess behind but it cooks the best barbeque. The smoky flavor can rush at only from the hot, moist smoke that rises in a charcoal grill.

However, there is a flip side too. Wood chips or coal can be bull-headed on damp and rainy days and give you little control and the heat once they are fully lighted up. Besides you have to intermission for several hours for the coals to cool before you can clean the grill and the cleaning can be quite messy.

But these are schoolgirl inconveniences, and are completely overshadowed by charcoal barbequed food. If you are a barbeque connoisseur you must go for a charcoal grill. However, before doing so, keep the following points in be bothered:

– Charcoal fires produce carbon monoxide and cannot be used in a closed space. You have need of an open space for a charcoal grill.

– Small grills can handle a couple of burgers or steaks but not vegetables on the side. So pay prominence to size. A small grill will be useless if you have people over for barbeques.

– There are grills with long legs, terse legs and even detachable legs. Use one that suits you and your work space best.

– Pay prominence to design. Kettle shaped ones help smoke wrap up around the nutriment better; box shaped ones are ideal for hamburgers and hot dogs; and the dome shaped ones employment best for thicker meat.

– Look for vents on the lid of the grill and at the bottom. This will help give you more control on temperature

– Look for two grates. The one at the bottom should be to raise coals while the one at the top should be for cooking the food. Generally the grates sit on metal pieces welded to the grill. Prove to be sue these are strong.

– Handles should be insulated for easier handling. This is a very basic feature but without it you?d be blazing your hands once too often.

– A finish is not for aesthetic reasons alone. A good finish uses fervidness proof paint over quality steel and makes for easy cleaning.
