Gas oven starting funny?
Dec 21, 2008 by kt77 | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
I had my gas oven on the other day and one time when it lit it made a loud sound. The only way for me to describe it is when I lit my grill once with the cover shut and it made the whole thing shake. Is it safe to use it before I call someone to come in and check it?
i believe that it is better not to use it until someone comes and fix it

Can I cook a 22lb turkey on a gas grill / BBQ? ?
Nov 19, 2008 by Alan | Posted in Cooking & Recipes
I need to cook a 20-22lb bird on my gas BBQ. How can I cook such a large bird without it becoming dry? Do I need to cover it with aluminum foil? What temp and for how long? Any receipts and advice for injecting flavors would be great too. I’d like to know the largest bird you’ve grilled, how it turned out and if you’d do it again.
Yes, you can, but you really need to use INdirect heat... light one side of grill, but put turkey on the other. Start it breast side down, then flip about half-way thru cooking. You REALLY need a meat thermometer to be sure it's done. A pan of water in there wouldn't hurt it staying moist, either.

Weird Carbon Monoxide smell, what could it be?
Sep 14, 2008 by VYTFreeek | Posted in Other - Health
Yesterday, probably starting in the evening, the lower part of my home (2 story town-house) began smelling like Carbon Monoxide. It got worse and worse until finally everyone had to stay in their rooms cause of the smell. It's the type of smell you get when you stand behind a really old vehicle spurting gas everywhere.
It began downstairs, I think because our rooms didn't smell, the source is around the living room. We don't even have a car, the worse spot was near our patio which has no roads nearby, the only grill near us is our neighbor's, but it has a cover over it so I don't think they are using it.
Today we sort of smell it, not sure if it's coming back or if it's just the remainder. We called some numbers but didn't really get much help. Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing it?
PS Important note, our complex has no gas lines. Our stove and heating is electric.
When in doubt, call P S E & G to come and check it out. Please don't delay as carbon monoxide (or any gas) can be extremely deadly.
Gas actually isn't supposed to have an odor but chemicals are added for safety reasons so please at least call 9-1-1 and they may either send a firefighter or suggest calling the gas company for them to check the levels in your home.

closed or open barbecue grill?
Sep 08, 2008 by jorge_low | Posted in Other - Food & Drink
ok I'm making a BRICK grill for my back yard I'm going to be using either charcoal or wood NOT GAS what would be better for that to leave it without a cover that covers the meat or add a cover DO YOU EVEN NEED A COVER ?
If you are in a position to have both, why not have both?
If you cover, there are ways to do low and slow (for things like brisket, ribs, pork butt, etc.).
If you want to go without the lid and have high, direct heat for things like burgers, hot dogs, sausages, steaks, fajitas, you've got that option, too!
I say, have a lid you can easily open and close and then have it in the correct position for the type of cooking you're doing.
Types of coal, wood, air flow, heat distribution are all important things to consider, as well. Do you want the ability to add steam?
Food for thought. Enjoy!
