Where do I get propane for my gas grill propane tank?
Jan 09, 2008 by Manbearpig | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
My apartment complex banned charcoal grills so I got my hands on a gas grill for cheap that uses propane from a tank. I've never owned a gas grill before and have only used them once or twice in the past. I see you can buy tanks in places like Lowe's, Target, CostCo, etc., but where do you go to get them filled with propane? Can you usually do this at some gas stations or do you have to go elsewhere?
In my area of Pennsylvania, USA, you can go to a propane distributor, but it is preferably safer that you to go to any store to switch out your emptied used tank for a newer filled tank. You get a great reduced price then having to buy a new one by itself. These trade-ins are then inspected to make sure that they are still safe to reuse. If they are, then they are cleaned up, and refilled to be sold again. If they are not, then they are set aside as scrap and recycled. You can find these trade-ins at most gas stations, convenient store, and retail store like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Lowe's.
My one friend is delivers propane, and he even uses it to heat his home and for cooking, but he gets it at cost too. LOL Anyway, he told me of a story where a propane truck was parked alongside the road, while the driver was filling a lady’s tank. A dump truck collided with the propane truck and ruptured the propane trucks tank causing it to explode. Both trucks were totally destroyed, the house was leveled, and there was a huge creator in the ground where the propane truck was sitting, Both truck drivers and all the residents in the house were killed instantly. There wasn’t much the fire company who responded could do, except put out some smaller fires that were left after the rest or the propane vapors burned up. It was a good thing that this happened in the country, or the damage and deaths would have been much greater.
Here is a site that will provide more information on propane and safety tips for you.

How do I disconnect a gas grill from the gas tank when its been outside for a while and is stuck?
Jul 03, 2006 by hottotrot1_usa | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Its a standard gas grill like we have throughout the USA. The hose runs from the grill to the tank. Its one of those tanks you can get refilled at the convenience store. The connector on the hose is stuck on the tank.
Don't forget that gas connections have a LEFT HAND THREAD, that is, the opposite of anything else.
(later) yes Bullfrog, WD40 or plusgas

Can a gas grill or similar sized propane tank be used temporarily in place of a regular outdoor tank?
Jan 29, 2008 by Ryan A | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
We had a 57 gallon propane tank outside out house that was used for a gas stove only. We only went through about 20 gallons of propane per year. This tank (with a half tank of gas) was recently stolen. Is it possible to hook up a gas grill or similar sized propane tank in place of the larger tank that was there? We are selling the house and will not be remaining there long term so it seems pointless to go through the hassle of having another full-size tank installed and paying for a full tank of gas.
The only propane we use is for the cooktop in the kitchen. We have two 20 pound tanks hooked up to it. One is in service and one is a spare. We use a tank about every six months. It has worked very well for us since we built the house 12 years ago.
The tanks sit behind the house and are manifolded with a regulator so all we have to do is switch over when one runs out.

How do I make a charcoal Grill into a Gas Grill?
Jul 13, 2008 by jimgadzie | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
I have a built in charcoal grill at my house, but would prefer gas because I dont grill a large qty and want to just turn on and off as needed. Calling places have suggested purchasing an insert, but that is very expensive. I have to imagine you can buy "replacement" parts for a gas grill and mount them in the charcoal grill insert and hook up to the gas (which is like 30 feet away)
Any suggestions on how to get started?
If this is a masonry grill, you may be able to buy parts from a gas stove to use.
you'll need to drill 1 hole for the gas feed,& 2 for mounting brackets. Depending on which gas-jets you get.
You will also need to mount a catch plate to protect the gas -jets( you don't want to have to clean them all the time)
GOOD LUCK!

Gas grill problem and the game starts soon. Can you help me?
Oct 14, 2007 by Lord Minion | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have a gass grill and Im not getting enough pressure. I replaced the fuel tank and cleaned the fuel lines with a small needle. I can feal the gas coming out of the lines but when I hook everything back up I can only get good pressure from just one burner at a time and it only lasts for a few seconds. If I turn on a second burner than the first almost totaly dies out. Any suggestions would be nice. Maybe the tank I just got has fuel but not enough pressure?
Problem is a lot of insects and especially spiders are attracted to the smell of gas and build webs inside the headers. Cleaning the jets may not be enough. Try removing the burner assembly and blowing it out with compressed air. Once the blockage is removed, reinstall and game on!!!
