Does anyone know?
Where i can find a portable flat top grill that i can use on a bbq. I need one that i will be able to use on my propane bbq grill. Can anyone tell me where i can find one? Or can i use a cast iron grill/griddle and have the same results.
Cast iron works well. I have cooked like that.
Does anyone know what this portable BBQ is called?
It is basically a baking tin filled with charcoal and covered with a thin metal grill. They are sold for like $8 CAD or something. I am trying to have a camping trip but can't figure out what this is called... anyone have any ideas? Thanks everyone :)
Well I called Canadian Tire and it seems like it is just called a disposable BBQ... ? Anyway, thanks a lot everyone for your help :)
I agree with the other posters, Hibachi.
we had one when i was a kid. after the third or 4th use, the wood handles on the two small adjustable grills caught on fire. That was the end of that.
Does it look like this?

is it possible to cook corndogs on a grill?
my kickball team is having a BBQ tonight before our game and i want to bring something that is easy to cook, easy to eat, but not something that would typically be found at a BBQ. there is a grocery store near me that sells premade corndogs where all you have to do is put them either in a microwave or in an oven and they are done. has anyone tried to cook corndogs like this on a grill before? i believe that tonight we will be using a portable gas grill, not a charcoal grill.
thanks!!
Corn dogs over direct heat will burn the corn bread very quickly, and I am sure the pre made ones you are buying are frozen, so here are some options you can try.
First thing is to try to be sure they are thawed completely, this will shorten the time to cook them. One method would be to wrap them in foil completely (including the wooden stick) and place on grill, but under a lower temperature, again direct heat and corn bread not a good combo. Another option, and I have used this before to make cobbler on a grill is to by 2 aluminum foil pans, place corn dogs in pan, then invert other pan and put on top of bottom pan (this will make a sort of oven on the grill) then just frequently slide pan back and forth to roll the corn dogs around in pan so all sides are getting heated evenly. The top aluminum pan with make sort of like a convection oven out of this set up and help cook the corn dogs faster and more evenly. Hope this helps, let us know how it turns out....
What type of BBQ grill works well on a high-rise balcony?
I'm working with a high-rise condo developer who is looking for verbiage to put into their homeowner's rules & regulations regarding gas grills. The building is 32 stories high and the grill would have to withstand winds up to 80 MPH. Sounds crazy but personally, I wouldn't put a grill on a high balcony unless it is permanently mounted!! Would portable grills withstand these wind gusts? Crazy question but I'm wasting my afternoon researching this!! Thanks in advance!
Since it is in the developing stage you are lucky. Go ahead and have gas lines ran inside the wall to the balcony and have a nice stainless steel grill ancored to the floor and wall. Make it a selling point. So use a NICE grill with side burner. If you are really having trouble then I suggest calling some of the developers around the gulf coast. After all the huricanes down there you shouldnt have much trouble finding out how they do it.
Searching for a small (I live in a city apt), portable, charcoal BBQ grill. Recommendations?
-Portable/small is key...I have a small apt and not much storage space left!
-I would consider a gas grill but prefer charcoal
-Cheaper is better but I will pay for something great
-Easy to clean would be a plus
-I will be using this primarily for small bbqs in parks and on the beach. If it can cook a couple burgers and dogs at the same time, I'll be happy.
Weber Smokey Joe. There are cheaper ones out there, but they're painted with enamel. Webers use porcelain and last a lifetime.
