What's the best kind of smoker box for a gas bbq grill?

What's the best kind of smoker box for a gas bbq grill? Ceramic, Stainless Steel or Cast Iron?

Any of those boxes work, it just depending on the application duration, if you're plans are a long smoke using chunks then the box is out, short smoking with chips is what the boxes are used for. Personally I smoke most items more then 30 minutes and found the "boxes" are a waste of time and money, I use two different things, heavy duty foil pouches with holes punched in them and/or a #1 or #2 tin can with holes punched in the bottom.

WHY DO MAGNETS SEEM TO STICK TO SOME STAINLESS STEEL AND NOT OTHER STAINLESS?

I HAVE NOTICED LIKE TAKE FOR EXAMPLE I WAS TESTING STAINLESS BBQ GRILLS OUT AND THE MAGNET WOULD STICK TO SOME OF THE $600.00 DOLLAR GRILLS BUT WOULD NOT STICK TO THE $900.00 GRILLS,IS IT THE QUALITY OF THE STAINLESS THE DIFF METALS OR WHAT?

The magnetic properties of stainless steel depend on the specific alloy. Some very good stainless is magnetic and used in high end cookware for induction cook tops.

Where can I find stainless steel BBQ tongs that are LONGER than 18 inches?

This is for my Dad, who owns a catering business. He has a 6 foot long commercial grill...very wide too...and the sucker gets HOT! He can't find stainless steel BBQ tongs longer than 18 inches and I'm having no luck. Does anyone know of a source?

Note, they cannot have plastic on them because it will melt/warp under the heat of the grill.

I want to buy a bbq for my dad but i know nothing about btu or stainless steel vs the other kind :S....there is one on sale for $300 which is a 57,000 btu stainless steel bbq:

Looks like a decent grill,however you can get more for your money. Although it claims to be a 57K BTU grill, does that include the side burner? Is so then you may only be getting a 45K BTU grill with a 12K side burner. Also from what I can see there is only 3 grill burners. It does look like a propane grill. Also who is the manufacturer of the grill, are they a reputable company?
The reason why I ask this is because you can find better deals for your money. For instance Home Depot on line has a 48K BTU 4 Burner, Stainless steel propane with 12K side burner for $259.00
As for the debate with gas vs. charcoal, for me its a matter of preference and ease of use. When I want to get to my primal urges I'll use coals. When I want to cook with a controlled flame, I prefer LP. Sometimes I'll use smoker chips if I want to get the smoky flavor added to my meat.

Can I put an aluminum pan on a BBQ grill? (to heat up mac n cheese) thank you?

i'm having a cookout and would like to fix mac n cheese for my guest. (Kraft is only kind I know how to make) I want to put the food in either an aluminum foil pan (like those to-go containers) OR a stainless steel baking dish. Which way would be the best *and safest*? Thank you!

An aluminum pan would be fine. The trouble may be that unless you're stirring it constantly it will burn on the bottom. To remedy that (if you're using a charcoal grill) heat the mac and cheese using indirect heat. In other words build the fire on one side of the grill and put the mac and cheese on the other. Then you can cook the meat and the mac and cheese at the same time.
