Does anyone know where I can get a thick, heavy, durable grill surface/grate for a Weber charcoal grill?

Weber charcoal grills come with a flimsy cooking surface/grate. I'm looking to replace it with a cooking surface that will fit in a standard Weber charcoal grill that will be much heavier, thicker rods, and more durable.

I need to get rid of/burn some sticks (yard waste). Any reason why I shouldn't do it in a tall weber grill? I was going to get a firepit for that purpose, but now I'm thinking why not use Weber. Why not?
You sure can. I've done exactly what you are asking about. I have a tall Weber. I took all the metal grates out and burned away. Worked just like a fire pit.
Just make sure you don't have anything near it that will catch on fire. Maybe even have your hose handy.

i have a 22" round charcoal bbq by webber. has anyone out there converted one of these into a little gas grill with lava rocks?
UNLIKELY !!!
If you really need a gas grill, it would be more practical to buy a gas grill.

I purchased the device for grilling vegetables, but there must be a process for grilling vegetables on my charcoal grill other than just putting them on the tray. What is the process?
Well, I think the tray just helps keep the veggies from falling through the grill "slots," if you will. You could (I know I can't spell this, but I'm gonna try) shishka-bob them (did you understand that one? lol), you know, stick them through with a stick. I also think using some heavy duty aluminum foil can be used to grill those veggies. Hope that helped somewhat! ^_^

Dan is right about the number of servings, but I would pre-bake it half way (30 minutes at 350) so some of the chicken fat cooks off..Use an aluminum foil lined broiler pan and do 1/2 of the chicken at the time. You'll have fewer flare ups= less burned chicken. As the first batch is cooking on the Weber, the second batch is cooking in the oven. Once the first batch is grilled, (about 30 minutes on the grill turning as needed) put the second batch on the Weber and the first batch in the oven turned down to 200* to keep it warm.
