I connected my Genesis Weber Grill directly to NG using a conversion kit. It won't get hotter then 300 deg?

Any thoughts on why it won't heat up?
The Weber Grill should heat up to 500 degrees, the best I get is 300 and it takes awhile. From everything I have read about Weber grills it should heat up to 500 deg in about 15min?

Two points I will make here..

First of all what is the outside temperature? Where do you live? A lot of people grill in freezing or below freezing temperatures and expect the same performance as on days in the summertime. A grill has a lot of surface area that is "giving up" heat if you are in a cold part of the country.

The other thing I'm going to put forward here is going to start a big argument! I know that! Well, bring it on!

Natural gas has less btu's than propane does. It is not going to put out as much heat on NG as it did on propane. I know you installed a conversion kit that changed the orifice size, and possibly even the controls, but the burner is probably the very same one. The size of the burner holes and surface area of the burner have not changed. The heat will be slightly less.

By the way, when you made the conversion, did you adjust the air doors on the burner near where the burner tubes meet the controls. You need to adjust that so the flame is nice and blue and not "dancing" off of the burner. A blue flame is hot. A yellow flame is cool in comparison...

Does anyone have info on purchasing a new Barbecue?

I'm looking at the Weber Genesis E-320 or Genesis EP-320. The only difference I can see between the two is the E-320 has Porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grates (which I thought was the best) and the EP-320 has 7mm diameter stainless steel rod cooking grates (I'm under the impressions the stainless steel does not cook as evenly). Does anybody know which type of grill is the best quality, or does anybody know anything about these types of grills???

I am thinking of the Weber Genesis E320. It seems like it has gotten good reviews but I am trying to justify the cost.

Weber Summit. They are Stainless Steel, top of the line equipment. Though expensive, the control you have over what you are cooking is unmatched.

Parts are available for all Weber grills. I have need to own only two Weber grills.

The Genesis "C" model I had lasted 15 years with 3 complete rebuilds, then the firebox rotted out and I bought the Summit. Been using it for 3 years now. Get a infrared rotesserie burner-it is great for roasts, leg of lamb and chickens.

Can I use a standard propane on a Weber Genesis grill?

We recently purchased a used Weber grill on Craigslist however the propane tank is extremely rusty. The person who we bought it from said that they probably wouldn't refill the tank and that we would have to replace it. I've heard that Weber grills use a different propane tank or adapter or something. Can we simply exchange it at the gas station for a new tank? Will it work? Is there an adapter we need? Thanks for your help!

Regular propane- any homestore (Lowes or Home Depot) will sell you a new tank- costs about $25 filled

Aside from high-end Weber (e.g. Genesis), are there any gas grills made in the USA? If yes, who makes them?
