How many volts does a grill igniter have?
Jan 09, 2009 by speedy60010 | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
i just bought a "Weber Original 7510" grill igniter and i was curious of how many volts does it produce in order to make the .5-1cm long arc. (lmao i need to know for my spud cannon)
Sparks in air require about 30,000 volts per inch. So, if your Weber igniter will really make a 1 cm long spark then it is generating over 10,000 volts - half a centimeter is more like 5000 volts.
But for a spud cannon you just need to know how far apart to put the wires so the spark will be able to jump and you already know it's 0.5 to 1 cm...

Chicago Best Steakhouse?
Dec 27, 2008 by Tess | Posted in Chicago
Looking to go somewhere new for our anniversary and can't decide which famous Chicago steakhouse to go to! We've been to Saloon, Keefer's, Pete Miller's, Myron & Phil's, Select Cut, Weber Grill, and Brazzaz.
From the list below - what do you think is the best and why?
-Chicago Chop House
-Gene and Georgetti
-Kinzie Chop House
-Wildfire
-Morton's
-Gibson's
Other suggestions appreciated too!
Also wondering if people who have been to Morton's or Gibsons and are recommending them as the best - have you tried other Chicago steakhouses and still feel this way?
Morton's and Gibson's are surely the most famous of the Chicago steak houses, and both are wonderful steak houses. My favorite though has to be David Burkes. They age their own meat there in a Himalayan salt room. You really can't go wrong with one of the bigger name steak houses in Chicago. Harry Carrey's is also a good steak house.
