Frigidaire Refrigerator Energy Useage?
Dec 27, 2008 by A B | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I was wondering what the energy consumption is for my refrigerator.
I have a Frigidaire FRS 22 ZRF that I bought in Jan 98. I have heard that the new ones use half the energy and I my ice maker is kaput.
I just wonder how much energy they consume, I heard it is one of the biggest energy hogs. I looked at the plastic tag on the front door and on the back and can't find it.
How many watts does it use and how much money does that translate into.
My current refrigerator is a side by side and I like the style well enough, but I was looking at one with the freezer on the bottom. Is one style better than another , what is the most efficient and what maker should I look at ....I hear LG is good.
Many thanks.
I could not find you model number in the Frigidaire.com web site but I did find http://www.frigidaire.com/products/energyguides/pdfs/FRTB7B4EM.pdf this one but this is a new one. The following web page will enlighten you as to weather or not you should get a new one or not, and it says get the one with the freezer on the top. http://michaelbluejay.com/electricity/refrigerators.html
The following web page on page two has a link that you can put your SN and model number in and it says it will tell you what your cost per your is. http://housing.cce.cornell.edu/f-sht-pdf%20libraries/HOUSING%20Fact-SHTS/energy%20conservation-pdfs/frig%20article-9_29.pdf
On the back of the fridge you should find a sticker that tells you volts, or amp, or watts. Most of the time it is volts and amp. Just multiply the volts by amps and the answer is what your wattage is. 100 watts running for 1 hour is 1 Kwh (mutiply your watts to the price per kwh on your bill. Here in Hawaii it is 47 cents a kwh so 100 watts running for 1 hours would cost me 47 cents) Now how long does it run for in one day? That is the hard question as it may very depending on how high you have it set or how often you open it and for how long. And how full it is. One web page I found found said it could run up to 6 to 12 hours in a 24 hour period. I cannot find any web page on how the manufacture figures this amount.
As far as brand you can go to this link http://products.howstuffworks.com/top-freezer-refrigerator-reviews.htm and it is very informative with voting by users and testers for use and cost. Iti s a very good page to look up anything and every brand.
I hoped I helped you some what.

How much will it cost to fix my refrigerator?
Dec 23, 2008 by onstage1106 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have a frigidaire refrigerator which is only about 2-3 years old. Yesterday morning, the water dispenser suddenly stop working, and when I came home from work at night, all the ice from the ice maker has melted and the temperature has went down, the refrigerator seems like stop to freeze. I checked the power and it is still on because the light is still on inside the refrigerator. I unplugged the power and turn the temperture to factory setting waited for a hour to plug it back in. However, that didn't seem working. Does anyone know what could went wrong and how much it might cost to fix it?
Get to back of the "refrigerator".
Power on and "setting" to coldest setting.
It the motor unit "cold" or "hot".
If "hot" it will the motor or gas and possible not worth repairing.
If "cold" could the "stat" could be faulty,
Try Temp/link to prove the stat. (if motor starts = good)
Fit a new stat cost approx £15.
If nothing = motor u/s.

My freezer is leaking water! Why?
Oct 10, 2008 by JoAnn | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
So I have a Frigidaire side by side fridge/freezer with an ice maker. My freezer has the element on the back bottom that heats up (I can see it red and hot) and it melts some ice somewhere and then leaks the water out the front of the freezer from the door and then down and under. What can I do to repair this or what is going on!
sounds like the drain is plugged. find the drain and clear it. also google" freezer drain clogging" have fun.

Ice maker problem- Frigidaire?
Aug 29, 2008 by Dec08Mommy | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
My ice maker stopped working. i checked all parts to make sure that ice wasn't jammed in the back etc.
So I call repairman. he comes out this morning, checks everything and tells me that it's in working order (although he has done NOTHING in the way of replacement parts, repairs etc). He just "checked" out all the components to the tune of $125-
He tells me to wait overnight and see if it makes ice. If it doesn't, I am to call him back - he will order a new icemaker ($150) + $30 service call for a re-visit + labor.
Does this sound right? How come he didn't come with all the needed items to make a repair if needed? I feel as if I was simply charged for diagnostics and he didn't even do that. Isnt that like bring in your broken car and being told - well, it looks ok but if its still broken tomorrow I will charge you again when I FIX IT?
Any knowledgable people or appliance repair persons want 10 points? Please HELP!! Thank you for reading
Patty, does it sound like I want serious answers? I told them my fridge type etc on the phone. And 10pts. its just like an added 'thank you' - so I guess I wont give them to you. But thanks anyway for your answer:-)
the icemaker IS IN THE DOOR. Either way, I feel ripped off. We always call professionals to service stuff. My hubby pushes a pen - doesn't fix stuff..HAHA!
I have had the same problems with my frigidaire, look in the back at the bottom where the main water feed comes in, its hooked to a little plastic valve, and on the other side is the plastic line that goes to the ice maker in the back.
That valve un plugs,(cut off power first), go on line and order another, fairly cheap, its a pump that goes out from time to time.
Also, look inside freezer, unscrew little door in the back in look into the coils, if they are covered in ice, its another problem in the lower front which you will need an appliance repairman to fix, doesnt cost much, get the right person, check inside freezer first before doing anything, if no ice on the coils, order the part, that is your problem.

My frigidaire side by side refrigerator quit making ice just after three years
Aug 06, 2008 by Janathan | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
It dispenses water fine but just the ice maker stopped making ice. Is there a way to check whether water is coming to make ice if the valve is defective or the ice maker is defective. Filtered water is coming alright cold and filtered but no ice. Any help is appreciated.
Feel inside the mold for ice if no ice in the mold of the ice maker pour water in and wait a few hours to see if it dumps the load. If it does dump the ice than the water valve would be the first place to look!
