what is wrong with my refrigerator?
I have a 7 year old GE fridge and half of the freezer is not freezing at all and everything is thawing out. and since is the top part then the ice maker is not producing ice and the little ice that there was is thawing as well. what could be wrong??
ge refrigerator ice maker does not work?
water dispenser works but no water going to ice maker. I replaced the double water inlet valve but still no water to ice maker. GE model number tfxjr20 approx. 2002-2004. Double water valve part is wr57x111
have you tried lifting the thin metal arm and then slamming it down? that's the arm that won't let the icemaker go forward if there is enoughe ice in the bin. if the timers not turning then the water won't come in. does that arm go up and down on it's own? try slamming it down several times. you may need a new timer motor, but it might be just as cheap to by a new icemaker unit and replace the old one.
Why doesn't my fridge dispense water anymore?
My 2 1/2 year old GE fridge has an ice and water dispenser. The ice maker still gets water and makes ice. I removed the filter when the problem started and the added unfiltered water pressure didn't help at all. It was using filtered water so I'm not sure how it could be clogged. I was wondering if it could be frozen, not sure what to do.
The water is controlled by a solenoid valve which is operated by a micro switch that is energized when the water dispenser lever is pushed. The problem could be that the valve or switch is defective.

I have a ge side by side with an ice maker and the plastic arm broke is there any way to fix it ?
use to make ice all the time I don't know if it got to full and broke the arm off but there were plastic pieces in the container and now if it makes cubes they won't get knocked off
I have a GE too...At least yours makes cubes...my arm was sprung and will not allow the dispensers to fill w/ water to make ice....I had someone look at it who came to fix my oven and they quoted me 325 to replace and install the unit.....I make ice cubes by hand/plastic containers and throw them into the unit which still dispenses on demand...otherwise I love the refrig.
Reason for not repairing.....it is 12 years old and I feel it may be a matter of time for the refrig to go..so I'll wait!

I had one go bad (a different model). Didn't have to shut off the water.
You might shut it off just to play it safe. I found it was almost the same price to replace the whole unit.
