Help making great Sweet Tea with Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker TM50P?
Jan 19, 2009 by poss87 | Posted in Non-Alcoholic Drinks
Hi, I have a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker, TM50P.
http://www.mrcoffee.com/Product.aspx?pid=54
I have been trying to make a good sweet tea with it, and can't seem to get it right. I am unfamiliar with using tea makers. It is a three quart maker, and instructions say to add ice before brewing. Each time I add ice before I brew, it is not good at all. I use Lipton regular sized tea bags, about 7 and have the strength setting in the middle. I have tried making it without ice and just adding sugar, the tea ends up being "syrup-like" and doesn't taste very good. Also, when I do get a tea that isn't bad to drink, it only tasts good when its served hot to a fresh glass of ice. If I chill it overnight then drink some the next day, its not very good. If I brew it with ice and leave if in the fridge overnight, its bad also... any tips? Should I dilute with water after brewing? What am I doing wrong?
Should I have turned her breast milk into ice cream?
Jan 19, 2009 by JumpIn | Posted in Newborn & Baby
Hi, my wife is at her mothers for 2 weeks with our 6 week-old baby, and she left an entire bottle of breast milk here. I used it to make ice cream in our Cuisinart ice cream maker, and I put it all in the freezer as a surprise. I thought it would be a good idea, but I told a friend and his wife, and they thought it was very strange (they don't have kids.)
I thought it would be a nice treat for our baby in a couple of months. I have also tried some myself, and it is pretty good. My friends reaction however, has got me worried. Should I tell my wife, or just get rid of the evidence?
I think your wife will be very amused with coming home to breastmilk ice cream in the freezer. Keep it, please and tell us what she says. I think it's cute you wanted to make your baby something special to have when he's a bit older that you know will be okay for his (or her) tummy. Most men I know who have children tasted their wife's milk at some point it's not that strange at all.

How do you get homemade ice cream to harden?
Jan 19, 2009 by Elisabeth L | Posted in Cooking & Recipes
My daughter and her friend used an ice cream maker to make ice cream for a school project. Several hours later, the ice cream - which is in a chilled metal container in the freezer - is still a drippy mess. Do you have any ideas to help it harden up in the next few hours? Thank you!
Something must have went wrong with the recipe, or it just didn't get beat enough. Did the machine stop on it's own? Did you add lots of salt to the ice in layers? There are several reasons why it might not have hardened, but if it's not getting hard in your freezer, it makes me think something was mismeasured.

Can you make ice cream without an ice cream maker?
Jan 18, 2009 by sass | Posted in Cooking & Recipes
I want to make ice cream, but I don't own an ice cream maker, and I don't want to do that thing where you use zip lock bags, salt and crushed ice. So...can you just make the ice cream mixture, then freeze it, and The End?
How do you check a ice maker to see if it is the solenoid or the maker that's bad?
Jan 14, 2009 by h82work1 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
there is not voltage to the solenoid until the ice maker send voltage to it so what do you do to check the maker i know it has to reach a certain temp to kick on but I don't know if a/c is getting to the maker hope this makes Sense but I don't want to spend $70.00 for one if it is something else I know how to use a ohm meter to check it Thanks much for any info
It is a ge model TBX16SIBNRWW but they all work on the same principle
