I have just brought an Electric juicer?
Jan 17, 2009 by familybrother | Posted in Other - Food & Drink
unfortunately there isn't a recipe book included, i would be grateful if anyone could let me any recipes or suggestions for my juicer.
We just recently bought a juicer too! We like
2 carrots 1apple and 1/2 orange or
2-3 apples 1 celery or
2-3 oranges 1 apple
1 slice Cantaloupe 1-2 apples
pineapple slices with apple orange
we haven't really tried any veggies with the exception of carrots and celery. We tried beets and unless you like the earthy taste stay away. We tried cranberries and they are best used in small amounts very tart.We tried grapefruit, very tart also but I pulled of as much off the white skin as possible and had it with an orange and was way better. As you can see we stick to apples oranges and carrots. The book ours came with said to use those 3 as bases and add other friuts or veggies. You could probably find a book at the library. Be forewarned it is a hassle to clean a juicer ,but the juice is addicting!! My whole family loves and look forward to our juice fix.

Lexen Juicer...manual or electric.?
Dec 29, 2008 by sjcdal | Posted in Vegetarian & Vegan
I am getting into juicing. Have been using an old manual blender with juicer attachment and now considering upgrading to a more juicer-specific device. Wheatgrass and fruits and vegetables. I like the lexen product reviews...but should I use the less exensive manual, or spring for an electric?
Go for the electric mate, they are more practical.

Can I use my electric juicer to extract juice from pulp when making jelly ?
Nov 13, 2008 by Christina P | Posted in Cooking & Recipes
I make lots of jellies (not jam, not a pudding) e.g. crab apple jelly, rosemary and apple jelly, quince jelly, medlar jelly.
The fruit has to be boiled to a pulp, then left to drip overnight through a jelly bag suspended over a bowl to extract the juice. Has anyone done this successfully using a juicer instead of a jelly bag and did the resulting jelly set properly?
The boiling makes the pectin and sugars change and thats how it sets.
for example if you get granulated sugar, soak in water and then leave overnight the result in the morning will be a load of sugar water.
If you boil it, then the result is like a thick set syrup.
You could use your juicer to get the pulp and then microwave it. I have done this and its been ok but no way to get around the boiling part :o(

juicing fruit. do i leave the skin on?
Sep 24, 2008 by pauls-mrs to be | Posted in Other - Food & Drink
sorry to sound thick but i have just been given a juicer off someone on freecycle and it has no instructions. my sons love fresh orange, when i juice it do i leave the orange peel on?
it is the kind of electric juicer where you chop the fruit up then like squish it down with a cup type thing.
Depends whether you would normally eat the skin.
So apples, grapes, etc leave the skin on (but remove seeds and core of apples)
Bananas, oranges, mango, remove the skin (and stones, seeds, etc.)
