Is it safe to stack kitchen appliances?

Going to sound a little silly, but I just moved in a new apartment and the kitchen, putting it lightly, is much smaller. Does anyone know would it be unsafe to put my rice cooker on top of my microwave to save space? I would turn them on while they are stacked like that, just not at the same time. However of course if this is unsafe, I'll be finding another spot. Any advice? Past experiences?

Probably not a good idea. Heat from these appliances could cause damage to the one under it.

How to reason out with my unreasonable roommate?

My room mate is cooperative whenever he's cooperative, but most likely it's because it is favorable to him. If by a slightest chance that doing something is a bit favorable to me, he would go all out protesting like the world's going to an end.

Okay, I guess I could be the adult and tolerate. But I could NOT eat all his excuses anymore.

I cook the rice for our meals every day (in Japan right now), and thus I have to wake up early for that. I am tasked to wash the sink, unclog the drains, the kitchen, clean the microwave/rice cooker of mutilage, and of course, the toilet.

I used to clean the whole bathroom too, but I decided that I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. So I gave the task to him. Well he washes the rags, takes out the trash, sweep the floor, and smokes a lot. And now he is SUPPOSED to clean the bathroom.

But he suddenly decided that I'M being unfair. That the bathroom is too big. Well I managed to clean it by myself before so I told him that. Humongous mistake. Now he says that I should just keep on doing so. Either that or he doesn't care anymore.

Help.

PS: Kicking him out is not an option though... so that's out.

Wow, that is problem.
I would say to really show him how hard your working (because I don't think he realizes it) you should make a list of what you do everyday.

If he still doesn't understand, show him! Take him around the house and briefly explain what you do (it will only take around 10 minutes to do that)

*Remember to be polite and calm. He will appreciate it. If you start shouting, no one will want to listen to you. :)

After that, you should ask for some help because you are not the maid, you are the roommate. You can maybe share the chores, then switch every week. Talk it out.

:)

what are the biggest engergy suckers?

What is the best way to clean a moldy dish and make it safe to use again?

I had a plastic microwaveable container (rice cooker) with leftover cous-cous in it that lay forgotten at the back of the fridge. It grew mold, and so I threw out all the cous cous, soaked the container in hot water with antibacterial soap, and scrubbed it the best I could with a washcloth and rinsed it out.

I wasn't able to scour it, however, or use a dishwasher, so is there a way to guarantee all the mold is gone? For example, filling it up with water and then boiling the water in the microwave?

I'd rather you not suggest buying a scrubber, because I don't want to spend money on it and I don't have a car to get to the store anyway (I'm in college!). So I just need this dish clean enough to cook food in and eat food out of it!

Boil a pot of water and pour it in the container. let it set for about 30 min with a little bleach in it.. should loosen everything up so you can just wash out with dish sponge
