What is the best clothes steamer/steam iron you have used, how much did it cost, and where did you purchase it?
My boyfriend's birthday is coming up, he has absolutely everything, so I want to get him something practical. He is in business so he's always wearing slacks and button-ups and he is constantly having to iron. I want to get him one of the steamers so that his clothes will look like he got them from a dry cleaners and he won't have to spend as much time getting the wrinkles out as he does when he irons them.
Anyone ever used TheTobi?
Wow...! Your sooo lucky to have a bf who does the ironing. I luv it when guys iron, especially if they like it too... Definately buy him a euro-pro steam generator iron they also come with a really good heavy duty ironing board if you want it. If it's steam power your looking for, this iron will blow you away, it's magic..!
Enjoy him, I would..

Does a clothes steamer really work well to get wrinkles out of clothes?
Oct 23, 2008 by shep3510 | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
I am considering buying a clothes steamer instead of an iron, but I have never had one or used one and I don't know how well they work. Are they quicker and easier that using an iron?
clothes steamer are good for heavy items where the weight combined with the steam helps pull the creases out. Coats, jumpers (not acrylics) are good. but shirts trs etc still need an iron.

How do you remove a mildew smell from a clothes steamer?
Jun 10, 2006 by Hugo Reyes | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
I have a clothes steamer which works great at removing wrinkles from my clothes, but lately there has been a mildew smell, which has been getting stronger w/time. I am concerned about infusing this smell into my clothes. I have thought about running some bleach through, but then worry about ruining my clothes w/ the bleach. Specifically, it is a steamer from the company "Home Touch." Any thoughts?
White vinegar is the most effective cleaning and sanitizing tool in a household.. mixed with water and a drop of soap a great window cleaner,,
Mixed with water it will sanitize your steamer too.

I purchased a clothes steamer and to clean it you need a decalcifer. Where can I purchase that?

How do you clean a clothes steamer with decalcifer?
CLR is one and you can buy it at a grocery store or anywhere cleaning products are sold. Try vinegar first though it is a natural decalcifer, it should work and is better for your home and the environment than a chemical cleaner.

question about my new clothes steamer?
Jun 21, 2008 by Tilly T | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
i bought a steamer to steam my clothes with. i was wondering if i could put a few drops of lavender oil in the water? would it ruin the steamer?
It will ruin the steamer!
Try spritzing the clothing with dilute, very dilute lavender and water afterwards......but remember, you are dealing with an oil that may mark the fabric.
