Garment Steamer?!?!?
Apr 02, 2007 by | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
I really want a garment steamer, I saw one at Macys.com it is the brand Conair? Does anyone have one??? Any brand, your suggestions, is it worth it??? Thanks!
i have one for years, its easier than dragging out iron and board, and works great on delicate fabrics, hanging curtains, etc. any brand is good, just dont's let mineral deposites build up onthe core, it lessens the heat and strength of steam coming out.

Garment steamer - does it work well on cotton, cotton/spandex blends?
Aug 05, 2007 by Lisa Faye Chardonnay | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
I'm thinking of buying a garment steamer (the Jiffy J-2000, to be precise). I'm sick of ironing and my style is such that most of my clothes require it.
Most of the clothes I would like to use the steamer on are skirts and dresses that are either cotton or a cotton/spandex blend. Will the steamer work well on these fabrics? Also have a few rayon and polyester dresses I'd like to steam... will it work well on these? Are there any fabrics that the steamer will not work as well on?
And I already know not to expect perfect, crisp results from the steamer as I would get from ironing. :)
Thanks, I appreciate your help!
Steamers are great as long as you use distilled water and a pinch of salt. For stretchie fabrics just hold the steamer a little further away from the material as you don't want it getting too hot and melting the stretch in it. Happy steaming.

How to use a home garment steamer?
Jun 24, 2008 by doing my best | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
i just received a home garment steamer i purchased on ebay, does anyone know how to use them correctly. I can do shirts ok but when it comes to jeans, how is the best way to do them, hanging up on laying them on the floor, do you use the brush attachment on everything or not, please explain.
Jeans are best steamed on the bed. The added bonus is that you give your matress a good freshening as well, killing any dust mites, fungus or bacterial growth that might be lurking there. I never use the brush attachment, it seems the steam itself is quite enough. Be careful, the steamer can burn you in an instant, and it's quite painful!

What is the best way to use a garment steamer?
Jun 24, 2008 by doing my best | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
I just got a home garment steamer and not sure how to use it correctly. There were no instructions on how to actually steam things. I know you can hang up the items but do you hold on them while you steam? Also pants and jeans, how can you get them really straight, what about a seam? do you put them on the bed, floor, ironing board or just hang them up to steam them. thanks
Hang them up and gently put the steamer almost touching the item. If it needs to be steady , hold the fabric so the steam gets where you want it . This usually works great .

Does a Garment Steamer produce the same results of a: steam/nonsteam iron or steam generator?
Jul 18, 2007 by eittleyellogurl | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
I'm looking for something practical, easy to use -- And I'm lazy so I heard you can just hang garments & steam them with the garment steamers. But are they better than irons or a steam generator? I'm just not good at ironing on boards.
A steamer will work well on everything except for linen, which usually needs a tight crease.
As long as you don't need a sharp crease in your clothes, the steamer will work great. Be careful not to burn yourself...but they can be expensive and really, it takes about the same amount of time to heat up the steamer and pass it over your clothes as it does to iron them.

Garment Steamer
When it comes to ironing clothes, I would say, it is one of the most hated things in my register. I don’t think there is anyone would like to do it especially when there is a huge pile of clean clothes that are waiting. Forthrightly, the only clothes I iron are my husband’s suits for work and for going out. The inactivity I fold right away after I take out of the drier. Ironing is one hassle thing to do because it is only not winning your time but will give pain into my shoulder, especially this blade shoulder of mine. The cause of aching it everytime is because I tolerant of to iron a lot of clothes every morning during my college years. It is a long story but that was the estimate why. That is why I don’t dare to touch iron most of the time. Oh well, I just found out something special to get for a Garment Steamer that is easier to use, guard time and money.
